Gurra di Mare is the name of the new winery in Sicily located in the most beautiful patch of Porto Palo (Menfi). The vineyards go up to the beach and with the sun, the wind and the African current, Gurra makes a unique and particular wine. Tirsat is a blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, a golden yellow colour with an intense and complex nose that leads to apricot and yellow peaches aromas, white flowers, spices and honey. A sweet exotic intensity that combined with a pleasant freshness conveys in an harmonic wine.
The palm is the symbol of the new estate, an important and strong sign during the history of Sicily but now fragile and helpless because of the beetle Red Palm weevil, also known with its scientific name as “Rhynchophorus ferrugineus”, that with its larvae excavates holes up to a meter long in the trunk of palm trees killing the host plant. For this reason, a percentage of sales profits will be donated to defeat this beetle attacking that is damaging the Sicilian landscape killing thousands of palms.
